- Increase in hormones: The most important reason for nausea before menstruation is the change in hormones during the menstrual period. With the increase in hormones, there is an increase in the production of stomach acid and as a result, nausea may occur.
- Pregnancy. Premenstrual nausea can also be caused by pregnancy. Nausea and vomiting are among the earliest symptoms of pregnancy. These symptoms can occur even before a woman misses her period. - Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) Premenstrual syndrome is hormonal changes that occur 1 to 2 weeks before the menstrual period. One of them is nausea.
- Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PDB) Premenstrual dysphoric disorder means experiencing severe symptoms during and before the period. One of these symptoms is nausea before the menstrual period.
- Endometriosis (Chocolate Cyst). Having a chocolate cyst can also cause you to experience nausea before your period.
- Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) Pelvic inflammatory disease means infection in the reproductive organs. It may cause nausea before menstruation.
How Does Nausea Before Menstruation Pass?
If you suffer from premenstrual nausea, you should go to the obstetrician. The doctor will look at your uterus and reproductive organs with an ultrasound. He will determine the cause of this situation and apply the necessary treatment. He or she will prescribe medication that relieves nausea. If you have a chocolate cyst, surgery may be in question.
Over-the-counter medications such as aspirin can also help relieve your premenstrual symptoms. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) help reduce pain, inflammation, and prostaglandins in the body. These medications include aspirin (Bayer) and ibuprofen (Advil).
Herbal Remedies for Premenstrual Nausea
Mint and lemon
Mint lemon is one of the most effective remedies for nausea. Put the water in a pot and add 1 teaspoon of fresh or dried mint. When the water boils, take it from the stove and squeeze lemon on it. You can also add honey if you wish. You can drink 2-3 cups a day
Studies have shown that ginger is very effective against nausea. Ingredients for making ginger tea; 1 teaspoon of powdered ginger or 1-2 teaspoons of freshly grated ginger; 1 glass of water; Lemon; Honey. Boil 1 glass of water in a pot. Add fresh or powdered ginger and boil it. Take it from the stove and drink it twice a day.
The anti-inflammatory properties in fennel can help relieve pain and nausea during menstruation. You can consume fennel as tea. About 1 glass of water is boiled in the pot and taken from the stove. 2 teaspoons of fennel is added and brewed for 5 minutes and drunk.
